Event photography can be very different from one company and event to another - Some require just me to photograph them on my own like the TWIA regional finals in November and some, like this National Final event needs a bigger team, so for January 2024’s national final I asked my friend and colleague; Colin Lavery to shoot them with me and he has been at the three National finals with me since 2024.
The way I approach these events is the same but the style and the way I work can depend on the company’s vision, the purpose of the event and the occasion that is being photographed.
Some clients want a candid approach whilst others will want more staged group photos and have a strict schedule to keep to and I’m able to adapt to the brief that the client gives me.
These image assets are just some of the great moments I photographed from the National Finals last month; January 2026 - this is always a very busy event for the wedding industry.

This is the 3rd year running for me shooting the National Final. The awards have been going since 2011 and the first year I was asked to cover the Regional awards was back in November 2023 and I got the job to shoot the finals National Finals and they were held in London; January 2024 - time flies...
The regionals are exciting to shoot but the finals are even more hectic than the regional awards; with much more pressure on me too as the event is a much bigger event.
As I said, the finals are normally held in London but this January 2026 we traveled up to Liverpool and had an over night stay @adelphihotel and it turned out to be even bigger and better than last year with 600 finalist all wanting that top spot in their respective categories - it’s great to see some of the winners that have became friends over the last two decades whilst working as a wedding photographer myself.
