2025 Look Back - Getting Ready - Wedding Photography
A quieter year for me in 2025 but still a year to remember - looking back at some of my favourite getting ready shots in 2025.
Bridal Preparations often bring photographic surprises which is why I love starting a wedding here.
This is a time for me to watch, listen and keep shooting the opportunities that happen in front of me to capture - great candid moments often come when you least expect them to.
2025 was a strange year - A good year in terms of the weddings that I was lucky enough to photograph (there were some great moments in 2025) and of course the couples that I worked with to help capture their big day and to make great memories for them to look back on but 2025 wasn’t as busy than i’d hoped and needed it to be. That said, 2026 is looking a lot better which is great to know.
When things don’t go to plan we always try to find excuses as to why. What am I not doing? or what am I doing wrong? Am I good enough? Why aren’t more couples booking me? However I feel (and hope) this is in some way connected to covid and the time it takes for couples to meet, fall in love and then start planning to get married. So i’m hoping this will mean those couples that met after 2020 / 2021 / 2022 will now be making their plans for a 2026, 2027 and beyond wedding to remember.
As we went into 2026 it meant my business was going to have a big birthday - now trading for 20 years - My 20 Year Anniversary - TWO DECADES in business as a photographer - That does not sound real when I think about it too much to be honest. But it makes me think back to how far me and my business have come since I decided to go back to night school in 2005 and then onto shooting my first paid job and wedding in 2006 whilst only a year into my three and a half year college course. Then after a few years of building it up I quit the day job in December 2011 to start 2006 as a full time photographer. Scary but very exciting too.
Anyway, fast forward 19 years and we come to my look back at my 2025 wedding season. This blog will only show my wedding work and I start it with one of my favourite parts of the day - Getting Ready or Bridal Prep. I love to start the day here and most people want that too as it’s my most popular wedding collection; Full day coverage; Getting ready to the first dance. 2025 took me to lots of great wedding venues;
The Oak Barn, Frame Farm - Recommended supplier
Salomons Estate - Recommended supplier
The Darenth - Recommended supplier
Marylebone Registry office, London
Winters Barns
Highley Manor
Squerryes Estate
Starting at the beginning of the day I get to shoot lots of candid photos of the bride, her bridesmaids, friends and sometimes the groom and his ushers too before they say I do. This part of the day is often full of nerves and excitement and a few glasses of something sparkling and a few bottles of beer of course. It’s mostly calm when I turn up but once the dress is on it can become very real and you can feel the atmosphere change a little, which is perfectly normal.
So my first wedding of 2025 took me to one of my favourite venues and one where I am proud to be a recommended suppler; The Oak Barn, Frame Farm. It was a cold start to the year but I always love working here and I’m always made to feel very welcome by Dina, Tim, Chrystelle and the team.
I hope you like looking back at my year in photos - below - if you see your photos please give me a shout out and a share - it all helps my business.
