Some nice words....

Wedding Photographer of the Year - 2019 -  Matt Rock Photography

The Judges comments

“Matt Rock’s photos are truly beautiful, creative and timeless. Judges loved his gentle style of observing and capturing just exactly the right moments of the day. Both atmospheric and dramatic,  judges were very impressed by his ability to bring his photos to life and thought his presentation was exceptionally clear for couples to understand and offered many options for all types of weddings, styles and landscapes.”

“As soon as we saw his work we knew we wanted him for the job!” Mr John Stewart (Caron & John - wedding at The Great Danes, Mercure Hotel, Maidstone, Kent)

”We booked Matt because his examples online aren’t just a pick of the best of his work, that is his work. I’m not someone who is easily swayed, but I was straight away. Great value, great work, all round great guy to be fair” Anonymous

”Me, the groom & our entire families / guests ALL commented on how fantastic Matt was! Matt was able to fit right in with a perfectly matched personality to all of us! His quality of work is exceptional, and his presence is relaxed yet professional. I was worried about being in front of the camera but Matt made us all feel totally relaxed... he gave great direction and helped us create some amazing photos. He has an excellent eye for detail . Honestly just loved Matt from start to finish... he is AMAZING!!” Mrs Clare Shahzad (Clare & Imran - wedding at Salomons Estate Tunbridge Wells, Kent)

”Matt was fantastic, he has a great sense of humour and the whole wedding party commented on how friendly and nice he was. We have some amazing pictures because of him and would recommend him to anyone looking to book a wedding. We looked at a few photographers for our big day, but from the initial consultation to the prep work before hand and the speed at which we got the photos after the big day. Matt was amazing” Mr Paul Roberts (Alex & Paul - wedding at The Berkeley Hotel, London)

As a lifestyle photographer I love to capture those candid moments of the day which will be a beautiful memory of a special time spent with the people closest to you.

Creativly capturing the stories being told, the laughs, the emotion and the fun that weddings bring.

Working quietly and unobtrusively so you can look back at your photographs over the years with a smile, a laugh and maybe a happy tear.

Popular questions I get asked

“What do you charge” (value for money)

There will always be a limit to your wedding budget, so it’s important you spend it on the things you want or need first; Venue being the first on the list in most cases.

However, your wedding photographs are the only thing that become more valuable year on year - you could even say priceless! So make sure you book a photographer who’s work you love. Look at the photographers style & quality of work - Is their work consistent? Or does each image look like it’s been taken by different photographers?

How does their work make you feel when you are viewing it? Emotional? Happy? Laugh? Even a bit tearful?

When you have made your choice, book early so not to be disappointed and try to look at the value of what you will get not just the upfront cost.

“How soon should I book a photographer?”

I normally get booked between nine months to two years in advance, although sometimes I’ve had an enquiry a couple of months before the wedding day. I would recommend booking as soon as you have made your choice so that you can move on to the next important item on your wedding ‘to do’ list.

“Do I need a two photographers?”

I do know and have worked with many great photographers since my first wedding in 2006, however 90% of the weddings I have shot over this time have been me by myself. There are of course some instances that you may want to have two photographers which we can discuss. However, another important thought is that you may want to have a photographer - like me; where my style is un-obtrusive and of a documentary, candid nature and having two photographers may feel too much of an intrusion to your wedding day. So unless it’s something that you really need, I would say you will get more value over the years from a beautiful wedding album than paying for two photographers. I’m happy to discuss this in more detail of course so let me know your thoughts.

“Do you travel?”

Simple answer is - Yes! I’m still waiting to join the overseas club and shoot abroad, however I’m lucky enough to have visited so many great areas & venues locally and all over the south of England I’ll just have to keep waiting for that international experience. If you have a wedding anywhere in the UK, and overseas that you would like to discuss, i’d love to be part of it.

“Have you worked at my venue before?”

If you are getting married in Kent, Essex and London, the chances are I have worked at your venue. But there are so many I haven’t yet had the opportunity to see. Which is why I love wedding photography; because shooting at a new venue is very exciting. As an experienced photographer, working somewhere new is a great opportunity to make photos that no one else has in their wedding album.

Why should we book you?

Consistency in my work - I believe this is the most important thing to look for when choosing your photographer…

Being consistent means that you will have much more confidence and trust in getting what you have paid for. Photography is very subjective and some people looking at my site will love my work and some may not. Which is a good thing, in as much as you will have a clear understanding of how your photographs will look.

Do my photographs connect with you when you view them? If you like my work you will notice that the images have the same look and feel to each other. Although my portfolio is made up of many different weddings; people, venues and of course different weather conditions, the images are consistent.

So when you are ready to make your choice you know what you will be getting and hopefully you like what you see.
